    1. Magers Family
    2. Please re e-mail inquiry about the Magers family. I have pictures of Magers stones in the Fairview Cemetery, located along U.S. Rt. 250 in Marshall County. There is a David Magers and a Newton Seward Magers there for sure. There was also a family cemetery on a farm located at the end of what is now Beam's Lane I think it used to be Magers Lane. The plots are on the Neil Crow property but there is no evidence of them today. Except from hear say. My Mother in law was a Magers. Gail Yoho gy2137@aol.com

    1. Magers family
    2. Sheri---the 1871 land owner's map for Marshall County...Washington Twp., West part, lists Geo. Magers, J. Magers, Mrs. J. Magers and D. Magers as each owning property on the southeast side of McClain Run. My current Marshall County Dept. of Transportation Hiway map shows this area is accessible on road #12/2 which can be reached from Hiway 250. D. Magers is the only only Magers family shown residing on the northwest side of McClain Run. The name Fairview Ridge is not listed on either the 1871 map or the current Highway map. The Highway map symbolizes a church with cemetery on the northside of Highway 250 about 1 mile before reaching road #12/2. There is another church and cemetery just south of road #12/2.....on road #36 (accessible from road #34, out of Moundsville by taking 4th Ave.) The church is on the northside and the cemetery on the southside of road #36, a few blocks apart. This road goes along Tom's Run and leads to Leach Run. Good luck on your search. Karen Bridgeman

    1. George SIVERT-Sarah JOBES
    2. I am looking for information on George and Sarah SIVERT. I know the parents were John and Martha SIVERT. I am looking for the possibility someone may have information from George's War of 1812 Pension file and be willing to share it. Also I am looking for information on his children. His brother Jacob states in his pension filwe that he was born in Botetourt County, VA. I am trying to find a birthplace for George to get an idea of the places his family lived and to try to obtain more family information further back. Thanks for any help. Pam

    3. My sister n law and I visited Marshall County back in May. While at the Court House, we purchased a general Highway Map of Marshall County in the Clerks Office. It is a two page map with great detail. Both of the riges you asked about are located on sheet #1 with Moundsville. Along with the roads, it shows all of the creeks as well in blue ink which helps to differentiate from the roads. All in all - a very nice map. Southeast out of Moundsville follow Rt 34 south and east. Find road # 40 (a graded road) - The map says Blair's Ridge along that road. South out of Moundsville find Rt 17 - runs between 34 and 54 to the south. The map identifies road 17 with Fork Ridge. Have you ever used the USGS map system on the WEB. The web address is very long, so just go thru google. USGS National Mapping Information. Be sure to book mark it. You'll find it a great help. A query form will come up for county and state. You have a choice of feature type and feature name and there are several choices of types to search for. The first map that comes up allows you to increase the size of the image. When you do that then the map will print on one page instead of splitting the information on two pages. Also - You can only mark one place at a time - so I print the first one, and then from there mark the other sites I am interested in on it. Of course you can print individual maps for each site as well. Another hint, I had a problem initially when I changed states. The county list would stay with the previous state, it seems to me I double clicked on the county query area a couple of times before it would allow me to search the correct county in the new state. Initially, it may take some effort to figure out the methodology but its a great resource. If you ever get to Marshall County, be sure to visit the Marshall Co Museum, you'll need to make arrangements ahead of time in case you won't be there on the days that it is open.. Its located in an old church building. There is a link from the Marshall County Home page to find out more about the society. They have an old map mounted on the wall that identifies parcels and owners dated 1934. The Historical Society president may still be montitoring this site. He was very helpful before and during our visit to Marshall County. Hope you find this helpful. 1. Update from Carlisle
    2. For My Marshall County Family: I, unfortunately, find myself back in the hoose-gal (hospital), and have been here a week today. I hope to be home by Monday or so of next week. It seems that I developed a severe abscess in one of the inside surgical stitches, requiring additional surgery last Tuesday, May 23. It was suspected that the infection was MRSA, a very resistant and nasty bug that takes many months to kill. The doctor was also afraid the titanium rod had been compromised as well as the knee screws. He scared me to death with the "amputation" word and I am not at liberty in polite company my response to the doctor. We chose the I and D route (Incision and Draining) first until we could positively identify the culprit "bug!" Finally on Saturday, they were able to tell me that it is NOT MRSA but is a regular nasty Staphacoccus aurorus (yes I know I can not spell) which will only take about six weeks to kill. I am on SERIOUS I V antibiotics (four different ones), and will go home when they have somewhat of a handle on the infection. Also while I am here I am being fitted with an electronic "Bone Stimulator" which I will wear and use for at least six months as it stimulates the bones to cure the fractures. The bottom fracture looks great but the top and diagonal fracture has a long way to go. My will and mood remain upbeat and very ambitious--I WILL WALK again! At this time I want to take this opportunity thank four of our members for their wonderful support, many cards, and care and concern--they are Hazel Spahr, Helen Shipe, and Myrtle Duke and of course my very BEST FRIEND (our leader who so willing gives of herself to not only me but all of the list members) Linda Fluharty. Thanks also to Blaine Standiford, Vernon Anderson, Joel Robinson and others I have forgotten for all of their e-mails and cards and support. With your help and prayers, I shall conquor this mess that I have gotten myself into. Yours in Genealogy and Friendship, Carlisle Bowling P. O. Box 1177 Flagler Beach, FL 32136-1177 Zarvon@aol.com
