Hi Pam, As usual, Ancestry.com has a typo in their index, but did find "Adan" Morrow - really Adam Morrow, which is easy to read from the image Page 24 - Adam Morrow 3 white males under 10; 2 white males 10 thru 15; 1 white male 45 and over; 1 white female under 10, 1 white female 10 thru 15; and 1 white female 26 thru 44 The only other "Morrow" showing up in the ancestry index in Ohio County for 1810 is Mathew Morrow on page 10 1 white male 26 thru 44; 1 white male 45 and over; 1 white female 10 thru 15; 3 white females 16 thru 25; and 1 white female 45 and over. There is also an Adam Morrow in Brooke County Virginia 1810 page 689 2 white males under 10; 1 white male 45 and over; 1 shite female 26 thru 44; and what might be not sure 1 slave? The census image does not correspond with the template I have for 1810 and there are 3 extra boxes the first two following the white entries are blank and the third has 1 - following that is "100". Value of land or slaves? I have no idea. There is also an Alexander and a John in Brooke County 1810 - let me know if you need the info on them as well. Hope this is of some help. Does anyone know anything about the above couple? I have them as the parents of Rachel DANLEY who married Adam MORROW in 1814. Other children I have for William and Rachel (ADAMS) DANLEY are William, Nancy, and Polly. There may have been others, I don't know. Any help is greatly appreciated. William Sr is supposed to have died between 1831-1838 in East Finley, Washington, PA Thanks, Pam
Can someone please look for Adam MORROW in the 1810 census of ohio County, VA for me? I have down that he is on page 24. Thank you for any and all help. Pam
I am looking for information on the family of James M. BAIRD and wife Elizabeth (SIVERT). I see a James BAIRD born about 1767 in Ireland aged 83 in the 1850 census-dies in 1853. I also see no Elizabeth with him there. The Elizabeth in question was born about 1798 and I don't know if she married this James M. BAIRD who is quite old for her or perhaps a son of his named James BAIRD. . The marriage record is in Marshall County. There was a John M. BAIRD who is in the 1850 census and 1860 census with a wife Elizabeth. This Elizabeth is Elizabeth DOUGHERTY born about 1802-3. My Elizabeth who married James is Elizabeth SIVERT born about 1798. Any help is greatly appreciated. Pam

Greetings veterans and newbies of the rootsweb. I would like tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 417 prisoners on record from your state and more than 256 West Virginia or Virginia Union who died here, I thought I would send my offer. As Virginia was one of the states that was torn apart and was truley brother against brother,,I feel the need to say I am not in anyway trying to focus on the horrors of Andersonville compared to any POW camp in the north ..( i.e.Elmira ) or any others and do not wish to stir up arguments on this site. My focus is dedicated to ALL of those held prisoner during this war , on both sides. I just happen to be near Andersonville so this is where I do my work. Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please do not consider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. I have located my G. Grandfather in the 1930 census, as an inmate in the West Virginia Penitentiary in Marshall County, Washington District. Family rumor indicated he would be found there at this time, but I was rather surprised to actually locate him there as he has been extremely elusive! Is this the same place as the 'Moundsville Prison'? The one I have heard you can tour? Are there records available? If so, where are they located? thanks for any help, Linda
There is a Captina near Powhatton Point, southern Belmont Co., Ohio There is/was also a Captina Island in the Ohio River. There is also a Captina in WV. It appears to be on Hwy 2 near Graysville and Franklin. South of Moundsville. Audrey
Hi Beth, As far as I know, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, Captina no longer exists. My grandfather lived there for some time, and it was a rural community, with scattered farms. I've never been exactly clear myself where it used to be, but just accepted the fact that it was there once upon a time. Sincerely, Susie Koehrsen

Beth----Captina is located on Hiway 2 just a few miles south of Moundsville and inbetween the towns of Cresap and Franklin. Fish Creek Island, in the Ohio River, is on Captina's immediate southside. Hope this helps you. Karen Bridgeman
Tom, Thanks for the location info. Charles Knox resided in Captina, and worked in a Coal Mine. He died in Reynolds Hospital, Glendale Heights, WV. I'm trying to locate Captina, but haven't found it yet. Maybe it's too small of a town to be on any of the maps I have. Thanks for letting me know it's over the River. I'll keep searching :-) Beth
I've been trying to locate the town of Captina on a Marshall Co Map . . . but have had no luck. Is it near Moundsville? Thanks for any help!! Beth
