    2. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The new listing of Belmont County Biographies has solved a 20 year mystery. August F. Koehrsen was my husband's great-grandfather. The family had always insisted that they had come from Germany, but now, we know it was Denmark, and I have now seen his imigration papers. Woo Hoo! Thanks so much for everyone's time and efforts! Susie Koehrsen

    1. melinda/belinda/lucinda martin married 1848 Marshall Co. VA to Allman
    2. I have been looking for years for Melinda (Belinda) (Lucinda) Martin. All I know is that she married Frederick Allman in Marshall county VA (now WVA) on May 21, 1848. Her parents were not mentioned. A 1830 census for Marshall co. va calls her lucinda and says she was born in VA (dad PA, mom NJ), another for 1880 says she was born in PA and calls herself melinda. Her tombstone in Wood/Wirt County says Belinda. Confusing? You bet. We believe she was probably born between 1826-1830. I've been trying to pull up any Martins in the VA/PA border area that have those names. Of course there are several. Any ideas or leads appreciated. Squire Martin has lucindas, john hugh martin has melindas, and on it goes-- but nothing to match to her. One of her son's is named Jeremiah-- and I've even found those. One possible lead has an LDS posting for a Melinda Martin born about 1829 in Monongalia-- father John Hugh Martin. No further info. Any way to eliminate that? Here's her children-- which may supply a hint. 2. Hello. Does anyone know where a town or a place called Mononga might have been? I have a marriage record saying the bride lived Mononga, also my GGGGrandfather John S. Willis listed his place of birth in his Civil War records as Monongahela, VA. Two of his siblings have been proven to have been born in Marshall Co. WV, but due to the feud over the borders up there, I thought there might be some of you who would know something about all this. Thanks. Martha Cross Sargent in Parkersburg, WV

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AEC.2ACE/561.1 Message Board Post: St. John's Boys' home is located in the Elm Grove section of Wheeling in Ohio Co. It is next door to St. Vincent's Church & School on Key Ave. My Mom works there. Boys are sent there who have been removed from their homes due to abuse of one kind or another. It's kind of a half-way home. Some are sent back to their families, some are fostered, some adopted, some sent to stricter places due to acting out aggression. They spend anywhere from a few days up to a year there. The Home is only supposed to have a certain number of boys at a time, within a certain age limit, and for a limited amount of time. It's a place the state can keep the kids until it decides what to do with them. If you need other info, I can ask my Mom what she knows. I'm not sure if there is any written history about the place that I could access. I'm also not sure about the types of records available concerning the children who have stayed there. I would imagine that any existing records would be sealed due to the minor status of the boys.

I'm interested in his family as a granddaughter Irene Augusta married into my McCreary family, and a daughter Sophia Mary married into my Imer family. Do you know the surname of John C.
