Dear Guy, I have only been able to find my grt.grt.grandfather (Richard Parrott) 's father, also Richard Parrott of Marshall Co. W.V. His wife was Deborah (last name not known) Their children were: Susanna, Wilford, Ann, Samuel, Robey, Caroline , Nighten, Owen, Henrietta, Cordelia, Richard (my line), Manly and Mary Ann. A Geo. Wykert advised that he thought his relation; Lydia Wykert bn 16 Aug 1793 Pa. was the wife of Samuel Parriott. Joyce Ann Fletcher is the party who gave me the list, which has very little other info. Some of which,is as follows. Richard Parriott Sr. 's will WV Will Book #1 "Early West Virginia Wills" by KTH Mc Farland . Robey Parriott was liste in 1870 Iowa Census. Wed in IL, Tn, Oh, In. (I don't known exactly what that means.) Owen listed as wed prior to 1850 in IL. or In. on 1870 Iowa Census. Cordelia listed on 1860 Ind. Census. Wed 1790- 1850 In IL. or In. Wilford liste on 1850 & 1860 Tenn. Census. Manly listed on 1850 & 1860 IL. Census. Wm. Wilford Parrott born ca 1804 or earlier. Married Cordelia Hider (Tyler Co. WV Marriages.) Cordelia named in her father's 1844 will Marshall Co. WV. her father Adam Hider, mother, Nancy. Wm Wilford and Cordelia married 30 Sept. 1824. This family sheet fails to tell what happened to Richard Jr. (my line) All I was able to find was that his daughter Harriet Parrott Weller shows her father born in Ohio County WV. Harriet was one of eleven children. She and her husband Robert Emmet Weller settled in Pana Illinois about 1870. He was Engineer with the B& O Railroad that had just finished it's line to Pana.
THANKS LINDA. I GOT THEM OK AND REALLY APPRECIATE THE EFFORT. JERRY WETZEL
If anyone has a copy of the 1880 Wetzel Co WV census... I am looking for any STATLERs or STOLLERs listed. My greatgrandmother is Mary Etta STOLLER (with umlauts), although her marriage license lists STATLER. She married Morgan L. MORGAN, who went to work on day and was never heard from again.... Hi All, Does anyone have any information on William Foster m. Elizabeth Ann Cox 19 Oct 1841. I think this is the same William Foster (widower) who married Elizabeth Carmichael in 1857. I'm interested in the children of both marriages. And where William and his wife lived. Happy Holidays, Garry [email protected]

there are many ways of finding people. You might be able to find some information on your dad's ss# by writing to the Soc Sec, and requesting a copy of his file. I have also found over 300 John Gamble in the SSDI records on line one of these maybe your gr grandfather as well. Where was your dad buried? may try to locate that Cemetery, and ask if they have a John H. Gamble in there. and if so, go to the local newspaper archives, and look up his obit, you can learn a lot by obits. Was he a veteran? you can also receive a copy of his records, Military as well as medical files. (if they have not burned them up that is) there are census records that are available that could give you another clues as well as information on your family line. Tax records, land records for that area you may find something there. I ask the living oldest relitives and see what they said about him. Good Luck.... Anna WADE married Jesse GORBY. They had 6 sons, and at least two daughters. One daughter was named Eliza Jane, does anyone know the name of the other daughter? Also looking for Anna's parents. I have no dates on her, but know Anna was born between 1795 and 1802 from census records. Census and property records show Jesse and Anna (WADE) GORBY in Ohio County, (West)Virginia by 1820 and dying in Marshall County (West)Virgina. Any help appreciated. Dawn.
Hi all and Happy Holidays! I am trying again to find some new info..... Looking for: John Maywood QUIGLEY b. 1775 VA Married Mary PATTERSON b.1777 VA. They were married in Berkeley Co. in 1796 by a minister John Boyd. Unsure (and looking for) where they came from or who parents and siblings were. There were some Quigleys who moved from VA to KY. John and Mary had their first two children (John b. 1800 and William b. 1801) somewhere in KY. Then they had 4 more in VA/WVA. (Andrew b. 1803, Jane b.1803, Hannah b. 1805, Anna Lisa b.1807) The family ended up in Marshall Co. WVA. I have a lot of info from there on. 1. Anyone know anything about John and Mary's parents and/or siblings? 2. Can anyone find them on a census in KY? They were there only a short time but maybe other Quigleys stayed in KY? I'll take info on any Quigley since it is not a common name at this time. 3. Can anyone find them in land records or other books and records on VA??? I "assume" they started out in the eastern part near Berkeley Co. 4. If anyone has any PATTERSON info from Berkeley Co. I would be happy to see it. This is my brick wall !!!!!! I am unable to travel to WVA or VA to do research. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them!!!! I am willing to share any info I have that may be useful to others. You may email me or post to the list if it may help others. Thank you all and have a great holiday season!!!!!! Sandy Other surnames in my Quigley family tree: Baker, Calvert, Chambers, Church, Darr, Ethridge, Fortney, Gorby, Hart, Hartlib, Holmes, James, Jeffers, Jones, King, Kirby, Kisner, Mathews, Mcmasters, Mickey, Miller, Murphy, Reid, Rentshler, Rhoades, Rhodes, Rickus, Riggs, Showalter, Sine, Stimmel, Tynel, Wendt, Welling, Whipkey, Williams, Woods - most all in WVA / VA
This is an experiment. I have hundreds of old Marshall Co. pictures. I am trying to find an easy way (other than a web page ), to show them to the list. Many of my pictures aren't identified, so I am hoping that one of you can identify them. This picture is, I believe, is of the Andrew Howard family. Andrew was the son of Reason B. Howard. He married Catherine Slonaker. I believe the picture contains his children, spouses & grandchildren. The little boy on the right of the front row may be Harvey Howard, son of George W. who had recently died. Let me know if the picture is viewable. Fred Bice
I am a new subscriber who is seeking info on Askew family of Belmont Co. possibly the St Clairsville area. My Grt grt grandfather was born in Ohio Co. WV. now Marshall Co. His name was Richard Parrott and I have found his lineage from his father, also Richard Parriott (variation in spelling). My grt. grt. grandfather Richard was born in 1811. He married Mary Ann Askew in Montgomery O. Hamilton Co. in 1833. Mary Ann Askew was the daughter of David Askew; bn. 1765 Died Hamilton Co. Ohio 1854. His wife Mary (maiden name unknown) was born 1773 died 1850. I do not have any idea where they were from. I do know that there was a Brevet Brigadier General Franklin Askew who was born at St. Clairsville, Ohio Jan. 9 1837. He was an accomplished military officer during the civil war. With the close proximity of St. Clairsville Oh. to Moundsville W.V. I am wondering if there is a connection, and if any one has any info on Gen. Franklin Askew or his family. Thank you. Charles Richard Parrott 574 Terrace Ave. Cincinnati, Ohio 45220-1979
I know that this they weren't married in the correct county, but the fact that these families seem to be related anyway, I thought I would go ahead and ask if anyone knows anything.... Roy BURTON married Cora GORBY on 29 June 1913 in Doddridge County. According to Wes Cochrans book, they were both from Doddridge. Cora is the daughter of Osborn and Aleena (FARLEY) GORBY. Who is Roy BURTON? Does anyone have dates on this man? He was suppose to be 23 when he married, and she was 21. However, I think she was closer to 15 when she married. I have a feeling someone fibbed on their marriage cert. Any help appriated. Dawn.
