I am looking for records (birth, death or marriage) of a few of my possible ancestors who according to the 1824 and 1827 tax list of Logan County. One of my second great grandfather's was named James Meadows and he appears in the 1830 census of Fayette County, but as everyone knows, Fayette from formed from Giles, Logan and Kanawha. While looking thru the 1824 and 1827 tax lists of Logan, I realized that where I now sit (and so does my farm) that I reside in the part of Fayette County which used to be Logan. On the 1824 tax list there is a Edward Meadows and on the 1827 tax list there are three Meadows, Edmond, William and George. I feel sure that my James is the son of one of these Meadows but I don't know who. Are there records at the Logan County court house for births, deaths, and marriages prior to 1830? Anita McClung
