I appreciate the responses and Phipps info.  My Phipps is my gggg grandmother Rebecca Phipps born 1812 in Scott Co., VA.  I am trying to locate her parents.  I found a James Phipps who was on Scott Co. censuses and then Clay Co., KY in 1850.  James may not have been her father.  Rebecca married Isom Gilliam in KY.  Thanks again.  Rick Stewart
