Once again, we get ready to celebrate our country's birthday. We owe a lot to our forefathers for their sacrifice in achieving freedom from England sovereignty. Some of my ancestors who fought in the Am. Rev. War were : John S. Baisden, Capt. Matthew Farley, John Perry, Daniel Jarrell. There was no funds in the treasury to reward these brave men after the war. Some had to wait thirty or more years to get any small pensions. Others accepted frontier lands as payment.
