    2. Rick; I agree the Mullins,Mullen, McMullin names are hard to track down. Yours and, my ancestor,Esther McMullin( wife of Matthew Farley ), was probably Scotch Irish. The "Mc' could have been dropped somewhere along the line. Moulin is a French name and could have been Anglicized later on. There is also a Gaelic version of the name, which adds to the confusion Getting back to the Mullen herb, or weed : It resembles tobacco leaves in the wild state. It grows all over WV, and probably England as well. The English made a tea from the herb I understand, and could have been smoked as well. Cousin; Shelby

    3. Hello Shelby - I think mullen is used for some medicines. There is a large branch of the Mullinses who descend from Abraham des Moulines. I believe Solomon Mullins of Logan Co. was from this branch. When Doc Mullins tried to trace our Mullinses, he settled on Nathaniel being the son of another Nathaniel due to the signature on the marriage bond between our Nathaniel and Margaret Wilson. It turns out that census info indicates the older Nathaniel was illiterate and could not have signed the bond. And around and around we go.
