The stretch between Clothier and Blair is a small part of Logan County. Shelby said that Clothier was named after the founder of the Boone Co. Coal Corp. Blair was named after a Philadelphia banker. What about Sharples and Monclo? It bothers me that our towns were re-named after Northern bankers and coal barons. Shelby's daughter Gail wrote an excellent post to the list about the coal barons "colonizing" the coal counties. I suppose renaming the towns was part of their strategy to erase our individuality.
