    2. Hi Rick; I have no idea how Sharples got its name. Monclo was named for Montgomery Clothier, the president of the Boone Co. Coal Corp. ( MON CLO )the silables extracted from his full name. The pioneer name for Blair was 'Seng', Va, but later named for a coal co. attorney(Blair). Thanks for your input. Cousin Shelby

    3. Also, Sharples isn't pronounced as one would think. It is pronounced Sharp - luss as you know. My grandmother Mattie Mullins Stewart was born in Sharples - really in Sodom.
