Rick; The Pastor at the Shaprles Baptist church named Sodom ; he got disgusted because of two beer taverns going into business close to his church, and started calling the area 'Sodom', after the evil place in the Old Testament. I didnt mention the mining community called Dobra, in my last post. It is located about a mile downstream from Sharples. An elder Polish miner named the town. D obra translated from the Polish language means 'good'. The name stuck ! Cuz Shelby

    3. I forgot Dobra. So it is a Polish name. Marshall Mullins, my great grandfather, had a store in Sodom. He built the homeplace outside of Blair in 1905 for the family. I don't know where they lived in Sodom. The minister naming it is a good story.
