Hi Shelby, you and my mother in law must be cousins, for she descends from John R. Mullins and Rhoda Baisden, and their son Joseph Mullins and his wife Virginia Belle Smith, and their son Raymond Mullins b. 1908, d. 1969 and his wife Elizabeth "Lizzy" Fry, b. 1906, d. 1979. My mil says she remembers her grandmother Virginia Belle Smith Mullins, and where they lived at in Cora, Logan Co., WV. My mil tell this story all the time, that when she visited her grandmother Belle, that this cock rooster used to run loose in her grandmother's fenced in yard. The rooster hated my mother in law and would not allow entry into the yard. The rooster would peck at her anckles and legs upon every attempt to make it to the door of her grandmother's house, but she was the only one it would attack. This occurred during several visits, and at one visit my mother in law and her parents noticed that the rooster wasn't in the yard. When they entered the house, and her grandmother Belle greeted them, she told her granddaughter Jewell, (my mil), "You needn't worry about that ole rooster no more...he won't be a bother'n you no more, cause we're a havin' him for supper." This was the first time my mil felt like her grandmother had taken any interest in her at all, as she felt like her grandmother had expressed no previous interest in her before....she was pleased.
