Shelby; I have Joshua Adkins Sr. b. abt 1785, Montgomery Co., Va., m. Adelphia Adkins, b. abt. 1786, Franklin Co., Va. (no parents for eithor one.). children; Lewis b. abt 1810; m. Elizabeth "Libby" Haner d/o Fredrick and Susan (Barker) Haner. (9 children). Luke b. abt 1815/1818; m. Cynthia Smith (5 children). Joshua Jr. b. abt 1818; Sarah A. Haner d/o Fredrick and Susan (Barker) Haner, sister of Elizabeth. Nancy b. abt 1818; m. Josiah Hager s/o Michael and Martha Hager. (8 children) Matthew b. abt 1824; m. Judith Adkins d/o John and Lovey (Plumley) Adkins. John b. 1827; m.1 Mary Ann Dotson (div.), m.2 Sarah Adkins. Harvey b. ---?---. m. Rachel Bennett. Some of the Haner's used the name Hager. Shelby, I am not sure anyone has positive proof of the parents of Joshua Adkins. I believe the person that has done the most research on this family besides JJ Adkins and Ronnie Adkins is Lisa Honaker-Odom. I have settled on Joseph and Sarah Adkins as the parents of Joshua Adkins primarily based on the research of Lisa Honaker-Odom. Joseph Adkins s/o William and Elizabeth (Parker) Atkinson. The name Atkinson appears in many early records and then Adkins and Atkins seems to have been a shortened version. Adelphia Adkins was the d/o David and Judith Adkins. David s/o Mary Adkins and as some would have it Jacob Harley. Mary Adkins d/o William and Elizabeth (Parker) Atkinson. I have also recently added another son to the family of Joshua and Adelphia Adkins. This is based on Harvey Adkins being located next to Joshua Adkins in the 1850 and 1860 Boone County census records and I have found very little on his family. If anyone has information on the family of Harvey Adkins let me know. 1.
