I mentioned tragedy in my last post; so now I will blend in some "humor" The loading machine I was operating at Georges Creek Coal Co. was supposed to be "haunted" (#3 loader). A man had prviously been killed when a huge rock fell on him while operating the loader.One evening we had caught up with the loading, and were waiting for a new cut to happen.We were standing around, and all of a sudden the loader started moving a few inches on the track.It stopped, but a young African American named Jabo started running to the outside fast as his legs would carry him.He said he wouldnt work around any "haunted machine". What happened was sometmes electric cross currents will briefly start a motor; then stop.But no convencing Jabo.
