    3. For all people who have published or plan to publish histories of early pioneers of Harts Creek in Logan County, please check your maps and you will see that Harts Creek is STILL in Logan County. It is known as “Big Hart” or “Big Harts Creek”. It was originally spelled “Heart” Creek. (1820 Cabell County map). The post office for Harts (Little Harts Creek) is located in Lincoln County. I have seen numerous publications (including Stan Browning’s book on Workman families) placing land, cemeteries and Logan County people living in Lincoln County, including my ancestors, Moses Workman and wife Sarah Marrs (Moses Sr. only had one son named Moses and he was my ancestor too. All of those extra children (straight from LDS records) were never in Logan County were NOT children of Moses and his two wives. The estate records for Moses Workman can be found at the Logan County Courthouse, naming his children. Moses Sr. nor Moses Jr. EVER lived in Lincoln County nor McDowell County. The Bullwark Fork Of Harts Creek is in Logan County. The Smokehouse Fork of Harts Creek is in Logan County. The Hoover Fork of Harts Creek is in Logan County. The White Fork of Harts Creek is in Logan County. The Brair Branch Fork of Harts Creek is in Logan County, etc. etc. Joel Hager got creative and took the liberty of moving my Dad’s grave from Logan County to Lincoln County after he copied my work from my website and used it as his own “research”. I think I know where my parents and grand parents and even my great grandparents are buried! Stan Browning has now moved all of my Workman family’s land (therefore their graves as well) to Lincoln County. At one time nearly all of BIG Harts Creek in Logan County was called Whirlwind. I know this for a fact because I was born there and my mother was one of the Post “Masters” at Whirlwind (Harts Creek). After the Whirlwind Post office was discontinued, mail went to Harts (Lincoln County). None of my ancestors ever lived in Lincoln County and none are buried there. Maps are ready available from Mapquest and Yahoo for all authors, genealogists, and “historians.” "We do ourselves and our posterity a great dis-service when we set down for fact things not thoroughly researched and not proven." (Quoting Marie Justice from her book, "One Mullins Family"). Dodie (Smith) Browning --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
