Found a bit more: on www.gencircles.com there is listed THREE marriages for Mary Hatfield m1} George Hensley on 28 Jan., 1892 m2} ______ Simpkins and had Vici in 1897 and Homer in 1899 m3} Frank Howes ..married on 3 Jul 1900 and had children: Harvey Howes Joseph " Lindsey " Levicy [although i'm betting this is Levicy Simpkins!] HATTIE bc 1901 and Anderson bc 1903 in the 1880 Logan Co. {Magnolia Dist.} WV census, Mary Hatfield is shown w/ her parents {Anderson & Levicy} as age 7 -- a few doors down from them was a Simpkins family: H.C. Simpkins 33 VA VA VA Pricy 30 KY KY KY Floyd 10 KY VA KY Louisa 7 same Andrew J. 5 WV VA KY Ellen (?) 2 same Eva McCOY 18....sister in law KY KY KY thus making Pricy a McCoy before she married ! i am betting that H.C. stands for "HOMER" , possibly? and that Mary Hatfield married one of these two: either Floyd or Andrew J. Simpkins. i find in 1900 Wayne Co WV Andrew Simpkins listed with a family and it says he has been married for 11 yrs. Floyd Simpkins is in Mingo Co w/ a family saying he has been married for 8 yrs. but i think either one of these could be Homer & Vicey's father, and that Mary Hatfield may have listed herself as a 'widow' and not wanting to admit a divorce? OR i could be way off on this and the Simpkins she married could have been killed in that big Hatfield-McCoy mess, eh? but the whole search may be without merit as it seems by the 1910 Census of MINGO Co. WV both the children Mary had by Mr. Simpkins are dead: Hawes, F. M. 35 m2 Mary 36 m2 {she claims this is her 2nd marriage!} 6/6/3 the 6-6-3 signifying that she's had 6 children w/ 3 still living which are the following 3 sons: Anderson 6 Lindsey 2..son Harvey 3/12 Lindsey 67...widowed...father and cannot find anyone in 1920, but in the Logan Co. WV 1930 census: House, Mary 56 widowed Harvey 20 Joe 14 and next door: House, James 25 with his family { i believe this is the Anderson listed in 1910} at the www.wvculture.org site there are death records for Joe Hatfield Howes s/o F.M. Howes and Mary Hatfield Joe being bn. 9-9-1915 and dying in a mining accident in 1951 in Logan. James Howes s/o HENRY (!) Howes and Mary Hatfield is also there..showing he was bn. in 1905 and died in 1940. [i wonder how F.M. is shown as 'Henry'...a nickname?] ok...hope this helps a bit !
