John Washington Cook born Mar 18, 1848 and died Dec 13, 1917 married Martha Alice Brown Apr 1, 1883 in Wyoming County, West Virginia. Martha Alice Brown was born Apr 7, 1858 and died Aug as 1938. Who were the parents of Martha Alice Brown? Remley is one of my families in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. How did the Remley name creep into the Cook and Brown family? thanks Jim Burgess
Jim, Martha Alice Brown was the d/o Wilson S. and Cynthia A. (Adkins) Brown. I have not heard why Remley became a middle name for the Cooks. Perhaps James Wilson Cooke married 1st a Remley. Joel, I see that Wilson is in the Boone County 1860 Census - so he is a Boone County Brown not a Wyoming County Brown. (not my Brown - thanks) thanks Jim Burgess -----Original Message----- From: Joel Hager [mailto:joel.hager@us.army.mil] Sent: Thursday, June 01, 2006 8:29 AM To: WVLOGAN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [WVLOGAN] John Washington Cook married Martha Alice Brown Jim, Martha Alice Brown was the d/o Wilson S. and Cynthia A.
