Hello List, Seeking information on John Lewis of Logan County, WV. Probably late 1800's and early 1900's. Think he had a connection to Lacy Lewis. May have had Lewis connections in Boone and Kanawha Counties also. Any information would be gratefully appreciated. Caroline

Caroline, John is my Great Great Grandfather, through my Great Grandfather George Herman Lewis. I have a copy of pages out of a Lewis family bible, but it doesn't give much information, other than births - it lists 14 Lewis births. The first 2 are John H. Lewis born Feb 25th 1844 and Lucy Ann Lewis born April 26, 1850. On page 2, in handwriting, the writer (unknown) states that the record was started in England, and the 1st born in the U.S. was Albert Henry Lewis (4/12/1881). I was always under the impression that the Lewis family was from Ireland, but this points to England. I also have a Frasier/Frazier book that was published, and it mentions Bennie Wilson Frazier marrying George Lewis. According to the book, George worked in the mines at Sun, near Glen Jean. In 1924 they moved to Dehue (where my grandmother and mother were born). I have a copy of the 1920 census, Sun Precinct, that lists George, Bennie and 6 of their children. This is in Fayette county at the time (don't know if it still is). That's about all that I have been able to find out. If you find any additional information, please let me/us know.
