Someone in the know, please post a list of addresses for the governor and whoever else we can start a writing campaign to stop MTR and the destruction of cemeteries. If there's a grass-roots organization founded, put them on the list, so we can join. I would think each county genealogical society should take it upon themself to determine from a list of their county cemeteries, which ones are protected under the Historic Preservation Act and which ones are not. It's a simple chart: Name/Yes/No. Post it, sit back and listen to us scream. This is the dust of our ancestors. I know I'm in another state and my vote doesn't count in WV, but my tourism dollars darn sure do, and my mouth and letters against the state of West Virginia do to folks I normally tell how gorgeous it is, vacation there, go skiing, hike, see the leaves and the springs. You don't fight big business with money. You fight it with publicity and pressure from higher up. I can't think of anything else to do but write, email, complain, write letters to the newspapers, and those living there, keep taking pictures for us and posting them. So the big-wigs have heard it before. Stamps don't cost that much, nor emails. The alternative is to sit back and wait until WV becomes another Grand Canyon, minus the guysers.
