    1. Re: [WVLOGAN] Violence; An Inherited Trait ? OTS
    2. Debbie: Im not knocking religeon, but I have known mininster,s kids who became irresponsible when reaching maturity. Perhaps they were just being good kids to save their parents from embarrasment. I think there is a bad trait there, just waiting to be "triggered". Oh, I almost forgot the Osborns; but in grandpa's Ed's case, I berlieve he murdered in defense of his farm & slaves, which would have wiped him out.Much like the millionairs who jumped off tall buildings in the great depression in 1929. 2. Hi everyone, I have enjoyed reading this OTS. It sure is a subject we could toss around and all be correct about. I believe I agree with most of what I have read from you. I do understand it can be genetic, it can be learned behavior, on and on and as one of you wrote, just down right mean. Growing up in my home there was no abuse and although dad did not spare the rod it was never in a abusive manner. None of we children have became abusers of our children. But, I have known children when I was a child who were slapped across the face, knocked against a wall, hit on the head or just any physical place the parent found handy. These children fought among themselves also in such violent ways. I am still astonished at a family member hurting another one so and finding it funny. When they had children they treated their children as their parents did them. Now, those children are married and have children. With our laws today it has been stopped. The little ones are all in foster care, some of the parents are in jail, and the mother who would have been the beginning generation that I knew was mauled to death by dogs in a wheel chair in one of her children s homes where she lived so they could receive her S.S check. Her daughter and husband are in prison. God help the children. I count my blessings. 3. Shelby I am knocking religion either but I agree, I have seen ministers children end up going bad, but you know what, the life they saw at home was totally different than what was shown in the public eye. I don't think it was the kids being good for the parents sake, but the parents pretending to be something they weren't for the public office sake if you know what I mean. Religion is what killed Jesus, looks down on people for not being the same as them........so I don't hold much for religion but christianity is totally different and that is where you will find the children being taught at home what they are shown in the public eye. I have never seen that go wrong and am living proof of it myself in my own childhood and with my own children. And yes, I have people on both sides of my family who are/were mean and am a direct decendant of the Dempseys you talked about so the theroy that it is passed through a gene don't apply here. I honestly think a person becomes what they want in the end, we were born with a free conscience to do just that.
