GARNETT WHITE OMAR, W.Va. August 10, 2006 — Garnett White, 84, of Omar, passed away Thursday August 10, 2006, at Logan Regional Medical Center. Born January 28, 1922, at Logan, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Ida Frazier Dempsey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edward White; one sister, Ruby Blankenship, and two brothers, Walter and Charles Dempsey. Garnett was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. A wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family, she was always involved in all activities with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. Her hobbies were reading and playing games with the grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Christian Television Channel and loved watching the Rev. Billy Graham Crusade. She was a constant example of Christ’s love for all of us and will be greatly missed by all, as she has gone home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Afanador of Dover, Ohio, and Donna (Bill) Gardner of Whitman; four sisters, Mabel Nelson of Chapmanville, Gladys Porter of Alabama, Ray Dempsey of Bradshaw, and Bessie Adkins of Toney, and four grandchildren, Mark (Patricia) Gardner of Rum Creek, B.J. and Raymond Gardner of Whitman, and Kimberly Afanador of Dover, and two great-grandchildren, Chayanne Ojeda Gardner and Alexis Rae Gardner. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 14, at 2 pm at the Collins Funeral Home Chapel at Switzer with Rev. Charles Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Pallbearers will be Mark, B.J., Raymond and Bill Gardner, and Matthew Vance. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
