Reason would teach one that a county clerk, or minister NEVER asks if the couple are related by blood. I have been to several weddings, and the question never arises. So I am assuming there is NO law forbidding cousins from marrying. In the old days, Banns were posted (before blood tests came along) Some ministers still say in the ceremony that if anyone has any reason why this couple should not be married, let him speak now, or forever hold his peace. Speaking of mariiages, My late wife (Norma) and I were married by a Baptist minister,in Danville , Boone Co. WV IN 1948.He ask us both if we had ever been divorced. He said it was against his belief to remarry divorced people. We answered no. Do some beliefs refuse to marry divorced people ? Im confused on this one. Shelby, There are some Baptist factions that do not allow the marrying of divorced people unless their divorced spouse has passed away. I think it has to do with their belief that when you are married it is a vow for life.
