    3. Hello, West Virginia Family, I've just come back from a visit to Williamsburg, Virginia. On the way back, my husband and I stopped at Tamarack, West Virginia. I was delighted to find a book/cd store with a focus on Appalachia and West Virginia. I discovered too many books that I wanted to buy but couldn't afford, but did get the following with my husband looking over my shoulder (smile): _The West Virginia Encyclopedia_ edited by Ken Sullivan, published by the West Virginia Humanities Council, 2006. _The Encyclopedia of Appalachia_ edited by Rudy Abramson and Jean Haskell, published by the University of Tennessee Press at Knoxville, 2006. _Appalachian Home Cooking: History, Culture and Recipes_by Mark F. Sohn, University press of Kentucky, 2005. _The Scotch Irish A Social History_by James G. Leyburn, the University of North Carolina Press at Chapel Hill, 1962. This is a reprint. These books are probably available at your local library. If you are interested in buying these books, I suggest having your book store order them for you. The charges to ship the two encyclopedia books might be prohibitive. If you can buy only one book, _The West Virginia Encyclopedia_is a wonderful bargain. It contains 925 pages of information and is fully indexed. The price is $44.95. I've started reading this book and will probably be picking it up for the next ten years. Here's the information for Tamarack: www.tamarackwv.com <http://www.tamarackwv.com/> 1-88-TAMARACK (The website is not very inclusive but will give a sense of the place).
