Sheryl, one thing that I don't think was mentioned on the Grist mailing is what is done with all the rocks and dirt that are left after the companies take all the coal off the mountains. They dump it into the river/streams/creeks below the mountain. Join www.americanrivers.org As for the way the coal companies treat their workers, write/e-mail congress, senate, the president and let them know how angry/upset you are about this evil. Tell them to MAKE the coal companies follow the rules that have been in effect for years. Only law officers and soldiers should expect to die at their job.
