    2. Could it be from the early Irish settlers. If I recall "Glen" is used alot in Ireland... 2. Sorry about this email, I had not finished reading all the emails in my in box... you all are way ahead of me!! LOL I love the chat you are now sending. If I recall, my husband's grandmother Mrs. Crabtree used to tell of a headless railroad man who would walk the tracks in Shamrock carrying a lantern- looking for his head. My husband swears he saw the light down the tracks when he was a kid. Gloria Damron in Ohio~ > Could it be from the early Irish settlers. If I recall "Glen" is used alot > in Ireland... 3. Gloria, I can't stop laughing- that is almost as funny as Carole's bloody arm story. I now remember both stories. Since we know that Logan County people do not lie <grin> wonder if your husband saw the relection of a flashlight when someone was walking the tracks at night? Just a thought, but I think it would be great if someone put all of those old stories and tidbits of folklore in a book, including who told them and to whom. I would be first in line for a copy (or right behind Rick and Shelby :>) Dodie gloryee@sbcglobal.net wrote: Sorry about this email, I had not finished reading all the emails in my in box... you all are way ahead of me!! 3. I just remembered another pseudo-threat of my mother's. It usually accompanied the one about the bloody arm. I don't know how I could have forgotten it because it would always send squealing and laughing kids scattering. "If I catch any of you doing that again I'm going to cut your ears off with a rusty butcher knife!" If we really did anything serious we got the backside of her hair brush on our backsides. Makes you wonder how many centuries some of these old sayings go back in history. Mama's grandma was from Ireland but I can't imagine that sweet old lady saying anything like that, either. ;o)
