He was in Logan Co. prior to 1830. I do not know where he came from originally nor do I know his parents or wife. In 1850 George's wife is not listed on the census. Also, someone said that they have a marriage certificate for one of his children that does not list her mother's name. I have to wonder what happened to her? I descend through their son William Smith. I am posting what is on the 1850 census for George Smith: Dwelling # 283 George Smith 44 M Farmer $115 VA George Smith 20 M VA James Smith 18 M VA Lucy Smith 14 F VA Louisa Smith 13 F VA Sarah J. Smith 12 F VA My William Smith had already married Rhoda Toler by 1850. So the known children of George Sr. are William, George, James, Lucy, Louisa, and Sarah J. Are any of you descended from one of the above children? If so, do you have any documents with the parents' names listed - looking for the mystery wife. My thanks.
