Today I received my Wyoming County books from Pauline Haga, Wyoming County Wills Wyoming County Births Wyoming County Death Wyoming County Wills They look wonderful. I have started going through each book line by line. Looks like we have done a very good job of putting these records in the Toler family. Some minor mistakes - all in all looking good. There are some great things in the census records. I love Ancestry Hate to pay the price - but well worth it all things considered. Another reason to write a book so that others do not have to go through what we are doing. I now have 731 pages (7,188 names) of Toler information. Thanks to those who have recently sent information. Will be getting back to you as I get the new information added. I have 669 pages (7,070 names) of Burgess Information Would love to find 10,000 in each family! Typing the family information from all Census records. Making progress! Sorry to send you these emails they help me to keep score and on track. Hope you do not mind. Happy Mother's Day! Jim Burgess
Jim, I have been unable to locate June B. Ashworth to see if her "Walker Family History" book is still available but I doubt that it is after 10 years. It is a very nice hard cover book about 2 inches thick. Sorry I couldn't locate her, I am in the process of moving and much of my genealogical material is packed, but I don't think I ever had her phone no. Vernia
I remember the early 1930s well; The local mine had closed at Ottawa, and people were in dire straits. My mom and another mom (Stella (Totten) Mullins decided we kids were going to have some religous training,One Sunday we four boys had put on our fresh Sunday school clothes, and headed out to church. We decided playing in the creek was more fun,so Sunday school was skipped. We finally went home, and stopped at Stella,s house first, with our clothes all soiled from playing. She whipped her 2 boys first, then turned on me & my brother with her switch, saying: 'Im whipping you boys too, as I know if Carrie (my mom) was here she would whip you too". I learned something that day about a mom's wrath !! Shelby
Yes, I knew them all real well, Jim; Willard was like a second father to me. You have his kids all named correctly, except Norene was the name of the girl next to Elmo, in age. She passed recently. The Walter Smith family is named correctly. Leota is his wifes name, but was always called Ota. Her parents were James Abner(Ab) Burgess and Marrena Smith. They stayed with Ota & Walter in their old days. Happy Mothers day ! Cousin Shelby
Dear Shelby, This is interesting information on our families. Most all of Burgess and Toler Descendants. I met Willard Burgess back in 1971. What a fine man! Shelby Do you know Willard's kids? Vanessa, I would have to agree. I have also noticed that Daniel and David have been interchangeable like Christopher and Christian or Isham and Isom and I am sure there are others. Joel, I've noticed that the names Daniel and David can look almost exactly alike when hand written in the censuses. Rebecca E.'s husband usually went by his middle name Kemper, and any other Kempers I've known about were David Kemper. I assume their namesake was David Kemper (1807-1884), a Methodist circuit riding preacher from Ohio. What do you think? Vanessa ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joel Hager" <joel.hager@us.army.mil> .....That would be Daniel Kemper Toler would it not? I have found the family of John Dolliver Toler in the 1900 census and there is no daughter Arminda Toler so she may be the d/o Daniel Kemper and Rebecca E.
