    3. Three blocks from our house was "Forbidden Lake," a pond of the 1950s, full of water moccasins, gators, snapping turtles, etc. It was a short half block detour away from our route home. Weeds taller than us - but full of tadpoles and minnows! There were no houses built in that area until the 1960s. I have yet to figure out how, as we returned home, mom met us standing on the front porch, her arms crossed, one foot tapping away, a fly swatter in her hand and that, "you're getting a spanking," look on her face. How did she know? Who told? Sue At 05:41 PM 5/14/06 -0400, you wrote: >Oh, yes. And the neighbors all spanked too. Then took you home for >another spanking. 2. Hello List, Seeking information on John Lewis of Logan County, WV. Probably late 1800's and early 1900's. Think he had a connection to Lacy Lewis. May have had Lewis connections in Boone and Kanawha Counties also. Any information would be gratefully appreciated. Caroline

    1. Re: [WVLOGAN] Who is the John Toler who married Martha Toler daughter of David Toler and Mary Millard?
    2. The Allens
    3. Jim, This marriage record is confusing. The bride's parents should be listed as John PAINTER and Martha Toler. When Martha Toler (dau of David Toler and Mary Millard) married John Painter, she already had her two oldest daughters, Nancy Jane and Mary Etta. The two girls were very small at that time, so they were raised by John Painter. Even though Mary E.'s maiden name was listed as Toler when she married Charles Lewis Brown, other records listed a different maiden name. When some of her children were married in Logan County, Mary E.'s maiden name was listed as Cook, or as Painter. I'm guessing that Mary E. went by Painter as she was growing up, but there was some confusion concerning what her LEGAL maiden name was. I have started going through each book line by line. Looks like we have done a very good job of putting these records in the Toler family. Some minor mistakes - all in all looking good. There are some great things in the census records. I love Ancestry Hate to pay the price - but well worth it all things considered. Another reason to write a book so that others do not have to go through what we are doing. I now have 731 pages (7,188 names) of Toler information. Thanks to those who have recently sent information. Will be getting back to you as I get the new information added. I have 669 pages (7,070 names) of Burgess Information Would love to find 10,000 in each family! Typing the family information from all Census records. Making progress! Sorry to send you these emails they help me to keep score and on track. Hope you do not mind. Happy Mother's Day!
