    3. Mullins and Baisden researchers I have John R. Mullins in the 1910 Whitman Creek, Logan Co. census living with daughter, Mararet (Mullins) Clark and her family. He is a widow by then. Does anyone know when Rhoda died and where she is buried? John is buried in the Mullins Cemetery, Logan Co. to the best of my knowledge. Since he was 78 in that census, I will be surpised if I find him in the 1920 census. But will look and let you know if I do find him. BTW, true to form, Ancestry.com has him listed wrong as John P. but it is very plain on the actual census that he is John R. Mullins was the son of Nathaniel and Margaret Mullins, for which John Mullins is living with his widowed mother Margaret aged 59, in Dist. 32 of Logan Co., VA in 1850. I find a 'Nathl' Mullins, Esq in Logan Co., VA in 1840, between the age of over 50/under 60, as well as a female over 40/under 50; scheduled by William Hinchman. household looks like this: Nathl Mullins, Esq...Logan Co., VA 1840. males----1 1 1 2 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 females--0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 __________ My mil has told me numerous times that Nathaniel Mullins is her ancestor, father of John R. Mullins. Does someone know anything to the contrary?     2. My great grandfather had a son out of wedlock. His parents raised the boy in Boone County. No idea what happened to the mother. When Tom was killed, Great Granny made sure that the son got his share of the insurance money even though the accident left her a widow with 8 other children to raise. That took class. Anita

Mullins and Rhoda Baisden, and their son Joseph Mullins and his wife Virginia Belle Smith, and their son Raymond Mullins b. 1908, d. 1969 and his wife Elizabeth "Lizzy" Fry, b. 1906, d. 1979. My mil says she remembers her grandmother Virginia Belle Smith Mullins, and where they lived at in Cora, Logan Co., WV. My mil tell this story all the time, that when she visited her grandmother Belle, that this cock rooster used to run loose in her grandmother's fenced in yard. The rooster hated my mother in law and would not allow entry into the yard. The rooster would peck at her anckles and legs upon every attempt to make it to the door of her grandmother's house, but she was the only one it would attack. This occurred during several visits, and at one visit my mother in law and her parents noticed that the rooster wasn't in the yard. When they entered the house, and her grandmother Belle greeted them, she told her granddaughter Jewell, (my mil), "You needn't worry about that ole rooster no more...he won't be a bother'n you no more, cause we're a havin' him for supper." This was the first time my mil felt like her grandmother had taken any interest in her at all, as she felt like her grandmother had expressed no previous interest in her before....she was pleased. Many people already knew about it when she was a little girl. The school children would taunt her with, "Your Papa really isn't your Papa!" Even thought that had moved 1500 miles from where she was born other Quaker families moved to the same place. She didn't learn the real truth until she was 16. I'm sure that people in your gr-grandfather's family knew, too. I don't think that in this day and age that you will shock anyone. If your genealogy program allows you to make new "fact" titles you can make one called "Never Wed" or "Never Married." It is simply recording a historical fact.
