    3. Gracie, All three of the Civil War pension records I've seen have had some sort of notation about the soldier's marriage, wife and children. I think they did this so they had the soldier's word if the widow later filed for a widow's pension. One of mine wrote his birth place and date in the margin and then stated his birth name.... he had married and enlisted under his stepfather's last name but was never adopted. I also saw one where the mother had to prove that her dead son was really hers...he died during the war. I don't remember now if she was applying for some sort of support or what since he supported her. They sent me that one by mistake. Right name, wrong guy. Carole

    3. Found a record (IGI) that said they married in Boone Co., does that make a difference? 1860 census has them married, but first child born sometime in 1861. They may have married in 1859. Another question: If I order George's civil war file, what information will be on it? Since I have not seen one, is it worth looking at? I have not found a pension record for him. I believe this is his civil war record: George W. I need to find the marriage license for George and Eliza Ann (Baisden) Hager. Going for DAR on Eliza's grandfather, Jean Schmidt Baisden. The marriage was probably in Logan Co., about 1860. Any suggestions about finding the record???? Gracie
