    2. Hi, Yes, the park. Dad always took us there. Back in the days when it was not built up like it is now. We stood on the overlook rock and had our pictures taken, now it has a rail around it. There is a nice Lodge at the park too. Plus a tram car takes you down to the river if you do not want to walk and you can take a boat ride where the driver dodges the boulders. If it is a hot summer day he playfully makes the water splash you. There is more for younger people, like whitewater rafting. It is a lovely place. 3. Hi, I figure Judi meant the state park. We used to stop there when we would leave Lincoln County (Hamlin) and go on to Roanoke VA to visit other family. I haven't been to Hawk's Nest since my daughter was about 2 and she is now 20, which means we have never had my son there at all since he is only 16. Jane H.

    3. Hello, West Virginia Family, I've just come back from a visit to Williamsburg, Virginia. On the way back, my husband and I stopped at Tamarack, West Virginia. I was delighted to find a book/cd store with a focus on Appalachia and West Virginia. I discovered too many books that I wanted to buy but couldn't afford, but did get the following with my husband looking over my shoulder (smile): _The West Virginia Encyclopedia_ edited by Ken Sullivan, published by the West Virginia Humanities Council, 2006. _The Encyclopedia of Appalachia_ edited by Rudy Abramson and Jean Haskell, published by the University of Tennessee Press at Knoxville, 2006. _Appalachian Home Cooking: History, Culture and Recipes_by Mark F. Sohn, University press of Kentucky, 2005. _The Scotch Irish A Social History_by James G. Leyburn, the University of North Carolina Press at Chapel Hill, 1962. This is a reprint. These books are probably available at your local library. If you are interested in buying these books, I suggest having your book store order them for you. The charges to ship the two encyclopedia books might be prohibitive. If you can buy only one book, _The West Virginia Encyclopedia_is a wonderful bargain. It contains 925 pages of information and is fully indexed. The price is $44.95. I've started reading this book and will probably be picking it up for the next ten years. 3. Somewhere, I picked up that George Washington Hager and Eliza Anne Baisden were married about 1860 in Tazewell Co. Have no idea where that came from. Do know that they were in Logan Co. (Chapmanville PO) in the June 8th 1860 census and Eliza Anne was listed as Hager. (They were living next door to her parents, Joseph S. and Lucinda Baisden.) Two of Eliza's sisters and one brother were in the same household with Geo. and Eliza. (Betsy Ann, Lucinda and Riland Baisden) I just checked the Library of Virginia and found nothing. Mayby if I could search the film that they have , I might be able to find something. But my eyes just can't see half way across the US. lol Gracie ----- Original Message ----- From: "dkb" <dkb@greenapple.com> To: <WVLOGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 15, 2006 1:58 PM Subject: Re: [WVLOGAN] Virginia marriage records > Gracie > > I have a few 1853-1860 marriage records from Virginia and I checked and did > not see the names you were looking for.
