Holley, 55, of McCorkle, who was killed by a slate fall in a Davis Creek mine. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Floyd Justice at 11 a.m. in the Freewill Baptist Church at McCorkle. Burial will be at the White Oak Cemetery at Ashford. Mr. Holley, a WWI Veteran, is survived by his mother Mrs. Missouri Holley of McCorkle, four stepsons, Harvey, Foster, and Jackson of McCorkle, and J.B. Armstrong of Charleston. Four step-daughters, Mrs. Renie Atkins, Mrs. Fancy Dunlap, Mrs. Joanne Thomas all of McCorkle and Miss Lula Holley of Worthington, Ohio and 16 grandchildren. (Simmie's stepchildren were the birth children of Laurette Smith and John Armstrong. John died when the children were small. Laurette died only a few months before Simmie and was the sister of Monroe and Strawder Smith, who are buried at Pine Grove, McCorkle. Lula later married a Mr. Taladay.
