He is suffering from cancer of the stomach and is in critical condition. Rev. J. A. Smith preached at Cobbs Creek Church Saturday and Sunday. After preaching he baptized M.S. Griffith and daughter Miss Crystal. The infant child of Mr. and Mrs Omer Pauley of Morrisvale died last Thursday and was buried at the Midkiff Cemetery near here Friday. Mrs. Matilda Graley wife of William Graley departed this life the 12th inst. and was buried in the Pine Grove, on Monday. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and one son. Mrs. Adaline Smith was called to her reward last Thursday morning. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and lived a consistant Christian life from her youth. She was a good mother and a good neighbor. She is survived by four children, viz; Mrs. Marion Pauley of this place, Mrs. F.M. Priestley and Mrs. Will Turley of McCorkle and the Rev. J. A. Smith and one adopted son, Cummie G. Smith. Her husband proceeded her to the grave about 20 years ago. (Transcribed by Lora Pauley Ward, May 20, 2006)
