John (and Simmie's) wife Laura/Laurette was my great grandmother's first cousin. My mom remembers that Simmie hand dug a well on her family's old home place at McCorkle. Simmie married John's widow within a few years of John's death. Since she was left with young children, it was probably a good thing he did. Lora
