Nance Sr. Woodstock OH I have been researching the Nance Family for several years. William Sanford Nance Sr. was married to my great grandmother, they had twins, a girl who died in infancy (may be at birth) and a boy, William Sanford Nance Jr. Here is the jist of what I have found todate: 1.Richard Nance Sr. b) ca 1800 m) 24 Feb 1820 , Elizabeth "Betsey" Dodd b) ca 1805 2. Richard Nance Jr. b) ca 1828 m) 10 Nov 1853 Elizabeth Spear(s) b) ca 1835 *3. William Sanford Nance Sr b) ca 1854 m) ca 1875/6 Sarah "Sallie" Cooper b) ca 1858 4, William Sanford Nance Jr. b) 18 Oct 1876 d) 25 May 1955 (half bro. to my grandfather) m) Mary Margaret "Mollie" Thomas b) ca 1873 (This couple is buried in the Woodstock Cemetery, Woodstock Oh.). By the 1880 Census, "Sallie" Cooper Nance was married to Andrew Jackson Collins (he is my great grandfather) and they are found in the 1880 Lincoln Co. WV Census, they have a dau. Martha A. Collin, 7 Mths. What ever happened to Martha A.Collins (Family believes the A. stands for Alice). This couple went on to have three sons, Shelby b)1881, Walter b) 1883 and Samuel b) 1887-my grandfather. Also in the 1880 Lincoln Co WV census, I find "Sallie" Cooper Nance Collin's son by her previous marriage, William S. Nance Jr. 3y, living in the household of his paternal grandparents. 1880 Lincoln Co. WV CEnsus Richard Nance self 53y OH VA VA Elizabeth Nance wife 47y OH VA VA Mary E. Nance dau 20y OH OH OH Wm. S. Nance GSon 3y WV OH VA What happened to William S. Nance SR.? Can't find 'hide nor hair' of him anywhere. Did he go into the service, die, divorce???? I have good research on JR. but would love to have information from the Woodstock Cemetery listings to see if possible SR is buried there with his son. Sarah "Sallie" Cooper Nance Collins also a mystery. Have searched the Cooper family/clans in Lincoln Co and all surrounding coiunties and she doesn't fit any of them. She had a brother Isaac Cooper b) 25 April 1858 d) 22 May 1943. He died at the home of my grandparents, his nephew, Samuel Collins. I have a copy of his death cert. (gives wrong date of birth and does not list parents names). Isaac Cooper m1) Luticia/Lutisha __?__, b) 26 Aug 1859 d) 11 Dec 1920. They are both buried in Lincoln Co. Black's Cemetery. What happened to Sarah "Sallie" Cooper Nance Collins between the time her youngest son, Samuel was b) 1887 and when Andrew J. Collins (her 2nd husb) remarried. Andrew J. Collins married Elizabeth Clay Johnson (divorcee) and their first child together was born 1900? Did "Sallie" die or did they divorce??? All suggestions come. Thanks to all volunteers.
