WV Obituaries Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/WV/LincolnObits/10497 Surname: Snezek, Spurlock, Olien, Turlington, Wade ------------------------- Mable "Mae" Snezek was born on April 22, 1915 in rural Wayne County, West Virginia to Andrew and Louisa (Bradshaw) Spurlock. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Duval High School in 1937. She wanted to continue her education, but the death of her father prevented it. She worked at Hopemont Tuberculosis Sanitarium in West Virginia until she was married to Thomas Mayo Holmes. She went to Washington D.C. during World War II where she worked for the Marriott Brothers at their original Hot Shop. >From 1953 to the mid 1970's she worked as a bookkeeper at various Country Clubs in the East, including Chevy Chase Club, Lakewood Country Club and Acacia Club. she also spent many years during this time as a Motor Service Volunteer with the American Red Cross. Mae then spent several years caring for her mother who was bedfast after a heart attack. In November 1981, she moved to Nott, North Dakota where she was employed as a home health care worker until 1992. Mae Snezek passed from this life on Tuesday, December 23, 1997 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, North Dakota at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 1 day. She enjoyed traveling, visiting with family, genealogical research, quilting and crocheting. Mae is survived by her daughter, Pat and husband Ben Olien of Mott, North Dakota; two sisters, Mamie Turlington of Waldorf, Maryland and Willena Wade, of Roanoke, Virginia; three grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and four brothers. Service of Remembrance: 11:00 a.m. at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Saturday, December 27, 1997 at Mott, North Dakota. Rev.
