Mr. Butcher was the oldest man in this community, having lived to see his great, great, grandchild. His death will be a great shock to his many friends and relatives. He leaves three children and a host of friends to mourn their loss. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery on Tom's Creek. note: Thomas Jefferson (aka Jeff) Butcher was the husband of Susan Peyton, although not mentioned in this news article, she lived until February 1918. Both are buried in the Peyton Cemetery on Tom's Creek. Jeff was born in 1833, the son of Matthew Hamilton (aka Matt) Butcher and Lucinda Tackett.
