To whoever said "I have researched the Spurlock family for several years and have a large file I am willing to share." Hello, I am the granddaughter of Martha Spurlock and Benjamin Franklin Reynolds & I sure would like to hear from you. Brenda Evianiak - Evianiaksteel@aol.com Baltimore, MD
Thanks for all your info. The Reuben Zirkle I'm researching married Lucy J. Roach. They had several children including Grover Cleveland who was my mother-in-law's father. I don't recognize the names you gave me, but will print it and maybe down the line will be able to connect your line to ours. Thanks again!
I am interested in hearing from descendants of Eli F. Harmon and Lucinda Griffith. I am related to Eli and his first wife, Margaret Brumfield. Margaret must have died before 1850, and Eli remarried to Lucinda. They lived in Putnam, Cabell, and Lincoln Counties, WV. Eli was a postmaster of Griffithsville. I think he may have been a teacher in Lincoln County. I've also heard he was a Baptist Minister. Eli and Lucinda had three children: John Perry Harmon, Wilburn Harmon, Annette Harmon. By 1880 in Lincoln County, Eli married a third time to Rebecca Yates. Eli and Rebecca moved to Wayne County, WV after the 1880 census. Eli died in 1889. At the time he died, he was a teacher. Does anyone have additional information about Eli and Lucinda, or Rebecca?

Hello Everyone, 1880 Census for Washington District, Lincoln County, West Virginia. Nelson Elijah MCCLURE (b. February 6, 1829) and his wife Nancy Ann HALL CLARK MCCLURE (b. abt 1834), and their children. Listed as a servant is John H. KEYS, w, m, 34, (born abt. 1846) Servant, born in Virginia. I'm wondering is there a connection between this John H. KEYS and Eliza KEYS (b. abt. 1821 in Virginia, d. December 7, 1891 in Kanawha County, West Virginia) who married Alexander C. CLARK (b.December 20, 1810 in Indian Mills, Monroe County, Virginia, d. abt. 1880 ). This Clark line is connected to the Clark families of George Rogers CLARK of "Lewis & Clark Expedition". Eliza and Alexander Clark are buried at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia RALPH was born Abt. 1800, and died 1828. He married ISABELLA Abt. 1820. Also, I'm wondering if maybe Ralph & Isabella Clark are the parent of Owen Bat/eman Clark? Most of the information below came from A History of Monroe County, West Virginia, by Oren F. Morton Children of RALPH CLARK and ISABELLA are: i. OWEN CLARK ii. ELIZABETH CLARK , m. NEEL . iii. JULIA CLARK iv. JOHN CLARK v. JOSEPH CLARK . vi. WILLIAM H. CLARK . vii. CLARA CLARK , m. JOHN PATTON . viii. MARGARET CLARK , m. JOHN JOHNSON . ix. THOMAS CLARK . x. ABNER CLARK . Owen seems to be a much used given name in these Clark families; Owen Alexander, Owen Batman, Owen F., Owen Foster. Thanks for any help, Pat
Pat, Zemenia Parsons m. Hurston Clay of Lincoln Co. I have in my file the same parents, Thomas & Rachael, but nothing further back. If you come across their lines I'd apprec. an email. Hurston lived in Branchland 1858 to 1958 and I remember him and have photos. Have a photo of Zemenia with Hurston & family too if you are interested. Be glad to attach a copy if you want. Looking For anyone having connections to the Brunty's of Ky and Wv.
Draper is in the city of Logan. Stratton Street is the main street in Logan. Turn right from Stratton Street onto Dingess Street, follow this all the way to the end, this is Draper. This is where the City Dump used to be located.
James, The name isnt coming up in any of my records, but that is not to say that Otis isnt a relative. Check the book Appalachian Crossroads and it really goes into detail. I am not even sure if it is in print anymore. Mom used to have it but she passed away in June and my sister took it. I am hoping to visit her gravesite really soon. Jan
I would like to know if Otis Wiley from Whitehouse Kentucky in Johnson County appears anywhere in the Jenny Wiley family trees. Whitehouse is located across the Big Sandy River from River, Kentucky where Jenny Wiley is buried. I grew up there, and as a boy I used to ride my bicycle to her gravesite.
I have researched the Spurlock family for several years and have a large file I am willing to share. Of particular interst to me is: Charles Buchannon Spurlock 1773 - 1857 Married Barthenia Dial Hager 1780 - 1880 Charles is buried in the Spurlock Family Cemetery above the Spurlockville Post Office. It is at the top of a bank on the right, you walk up an old gas line. There are only 2 graves that can be identified, Charles and Robinson Spurlock. Charles was said to be a highly educated Physcian having received his training in Scotland. Charles was also reported to be a large man about 300 lbs and loved the outdoor life. Spurlocksville was most probably named after Charles Buchannon Spurlock. Charles was said to have bought 1,500 acres on the left turn of Uptons Creek. Charles and Barthenia had 10 children. I descend from Seth Spurlock 1826 - 1923 and Jane Hart 1833 - 1913 my Great Granparents. They are both buried in the Pea Ridge Cemetery. I am trying to determine if Charles Buchannon Spurlock was a doctor of some type or was he a farmer like most of the other people at this time. Also looking for the grave of Barthenia.
