She's buried in Moon Cemetary, also in OH, next to my grandpa, Morton. I've had trouble locating her dth cert as well, but part of my problem is that I can't get back down there any time soon. She was born in WV, her obit says she's a native of Lincoln Co WV, but I can't find any other evidence of that. I know my Aunt wrote the obit so I don't know if she's relying on her memory or something else. My dad is NO help as he was the youngest of nine and they sent him out of the room everytime there was a 'story' to tell!!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZCC.2ACE/1102.2 Message Board Post: Your best bet for determining Ollie's parents should be her death record or her marriage records. Since you said that she died in Portsmouth Ohio (Lawrence Co.) in December 1979, I checked the Ohio Death Index on Ancestry, but did not find her listed. I tried any Pennington, any Ollie and any Rosella who died in 1979. I also checked the KY Death Index but did not locate her. Does her obit actually say she died in Ohio? or did that information come from the Social Security Death Index? Also does her obit say what funeral home handled the arrangements and where they were located? If you can determine that she died in either OH or KY, it will be easy and cheap to get a very informative death certificate. WV is a bit more complicated, it depends on what county she died in. If you let me know a bit more on her death location, I might be able to make some suggestions.

    1. [WVLINCOL] Jenny Wiley...
    2. Ruth Webb
    3. Hi All, For those people on this list who are researching Jenny Wiley, I ran across this Kinyon Digital Library website a while back, and found some info relating to our Jenny Wiley: http://www.kinyon.com/westvirginia/midnewriver/title.htm This site has info from the book "A History of The Middle New River Settlements and Contiguous Territory." by David E. Johnston (1906), Chapter IV. 1775-1794 (Part 1) The following info was printed a short way down in the text: ..1789, October, Mrs. Virginia Wiley captured-- And, a few lines further down in the text this info is printed: ... Mrs. Wiley escape in the fall of 1792. There is an ongoing debate among researchers and historians as to the length of Jenny's captivity. My family is of the opinion that Jenny was held much longer than just a few weeks. My family descends from Jane (married Richard Williamson), Jenny's daughter, and it has been said that Jane is the daughter of Chief Benge. Many people dispute this, but if we could prove the length of Jenny's captivity, it would help to determine whether Jane is the daughter of Tom Wiley or Benge. I realize the information on the above referenced webpage is not proof positive that Jenny was held longer than a few weeks, but it certainly does deserve consideration. I was wondering if anyone else has ever run across this, and if they may know where the information from which these statements were taken is located? If anyone has any info, I would love to hear from you. Thanks, and take care, Ruth Webb

I don't know exact dates. My gandmother Virginia Brumfield was born in the 1920's and I tried to go from there. I do not know if Great grandma Viola was married to Bays or Brumfield first, I think Bays making the Brumfield children later in life. Had kids named, Juanita, Naomi, and Raymond Bays. I also think they may have lived in OH at some point, because my grandparents lived in Dayton OH before moving to IN.Viola lived with my grandparents at some time and may have even died while living with them in IN. As I said before, I thought my great grandfather name was General Brumfield but the only one I found is not him. General may have not been his real name. I also know his parents were never married and he had his mother's maiden name, thus making him hard to find when she married. As for the Johnson's...my great grandmother on my maternal side was a Johnson from Breathitt/Perry Counties in KY. They migrated from North Carolina in late 1700's and my line stayed in Ky until 1940's when my great grandma moved to IN to work in a canning factory during the war, while her husband, the Neace side, was in the Army.

This tells me (because Roy and Albert were younger than her, that her mother was also married twice, first to a Jackson, then a Ball. My father also remembers his grandpa was called Lud Ball.
