My BOWMAN family were last found in Duval District in the 1910 Census. If I am looking for death information, where is the best place to do my research? Is there a Historical Society, Historical Museum, Court House or Genealogy Society? I am looking for a possible death date and/or place for Samuel (S.B. or S.D.) BOWMAN b. abt. 1837 OH and his wife Elizabeth MCCARTY BOWMAN b.Jan 1840 OH. This family lived in Meigs County OH 1860 and 1870 before moving to Putnam Co. WV in 1880, by 1900 they were in Kanawha Co., and finally 1910 Lincoln County. Thanks to all that answer Beth In Ohio

They lived at Nine Mile. They were the parents of Susan, Elizabeth and William A. Adkins. William and Louisa are buried at the McComas cemetery at Midkiff. There is some confusion about the identity of their son, William. He has been listed as William P. (s/o Brison Adkins) and as William A. Adkins. Family tradition holds that he is William A.. The 1870 Lincoln County census lists in Sheridan District, household #54, Elisha ADKINS 53, and his family; wife, Louisa 52, children; Susan 19, Elizabeth 19, and William P. 16. However, in the 1900 Lincoln County census lists from Laurel Hill District, household #25, lists William A. Adkins (s/o Elisha and Louisa (McComas) Adkins) as head of household, 46, married to Nancy E. Spears (d/o Henry Peyton Spears and Talitha Ann Frye). Of their 12 children, the names of their nine living children and spouses were listed. My maternal grandmother, Lelia Jane Adkins was one of those nine children. I’m hoping to include information about these ancestors and other family members of my maternal grandparents, Millard F. and Lelia Jane (Adkins) Adkins, in Ronnie Adkins second book. Millard (b. 1869 d. 1961) and Lelia (b.1883, 2/m. d. 1967) lived at Nine Mile and Hamlin. Both are buried at Hamlin. Information about any of these connections will be greatly appreciated.

S. B. Bowman and wife Elizabeth were living in Duval District in the 1910 Census with Daughter Daisy and granddaughter Clossie or Glossie Turner, and next door to son E. M. Bowman and Family. Samuel was 74 and Elizabeth 72 at the time of the 1910 Census, I am guessing at that age they may have passed away after the 1910 and before the 1920 census. Any help is appreciated. Samuel Bowman was supposedly born in Oct 1837 in OH and his wife Elizabeth McCarty Bowman was born 30 Jan 1840 Meigs County OH.

I was interested because of the Lovejoys but found some interesting facts on the Brumfields. My gr grandfather was General Parker Brumfield. I always thought General was a title? I was told his father was a Tabor and that he went by his mother's maiden name, Brumfield. My grandmother was Eliza She married my grandfather, Everett. However, I was raised by my step-father and never knew my relatives on the Smith side. The information that I have reserached has come from my uncle on the Smith side and information that I uncovered on the internet from Joel Hager. According to his reserach General Parker Brumfield was born 1 Aug 1880, Harts District, Lincoln County, WV, Married about 1896 Lincoln Co., WV, Died 7 Apr 1956 in Ironton, Lawrence Co., Ohio. My step-father is a McMellon, related to the Whittens and Lovejoys all from Lincoln Co. Any help on any of these lines would be appreciated. I hope the information on t! he Brumfields are helpful to you. If your gr.grandfather was General Brumfield, then we must be related? It's worth pursuing?

I have great news for all of you Adkins genealogy buffs. Ronnie Adkins, author of "Adkins Land of York to Beech Fork", is planning to publish a 2nd volume. As you know, the 1st volume had a wealth of information in it. He is now updating it and adding whatever you will send him. That is the key, he needs more input from you. Please read the message below and contact Ronnie immediately. He needs input and he needs to know how many people are interested in purchasing a book. Regards, James jjadkins@knology.net ------------- Forwarded message follows ------------- I am in process of producing a Vol. II of the Adkins Family {Land Of York To Beech Fork}. Vol. I was published in 1990. If you are interested in your line being updated or if your line was left out of the first Vol. I need the info as soon as possible. If you are a descendant of William and Elizabeth {Parker} Adkins pictures, dates, names of children, etc are needed. Also historical facts on older ancestors {pre 1900}, special life events such as military, colleges attended, interesting jobs, places of employment, etc. are needed on all. Information on anyone who served in WWI, WWII Korea or Vietnam with any awards, injuries, deaths, etc. greatly appreciated. Vol. II will have more info on Elizabeth Parker's family and more historical info on William Sr. Another child of William and Elizabeth has been identified-Elizabeth Ann. She married Zachariah Doss; any info on this line will be greatly appreciated. Much more info on William Jr's. {Lydia Owens) line will be included. Two more children of Parker have also been identified-Kiziah married George Fry Jr. and Susanna married Thomas McGriff. All that are interested should send snail mail addresses and email addresses, etc. along with all info as soon as possible. Electronic info is appreciated but will take it in almost any format. I am currently considering a CD format. If a hardback edition is preferred by most I will need two hundred orders to help support the publishing cost. I was Cheryl McCann before I married. My parents ran the McCann's Grocery at Harts. Doris was one of my best friends in school. I have lost touch but would like to get her E-mail. Could you give her mine? I am not sure about the spelling of Nicoti's name. This was in the 1880 Logan County Census. My husband descends from Nicoti's brother, Preston, who was the youngest of Corbin's children. He is my husband's ggrandfather. He also descends from Alexander (Zan) through his mother. Zan was a son of Corbin and Susan (or Lucinda) Spenser. I have all of Corbin's children and some of their descendents. Would you be interested in this info? I have talked to Hal and Garnet's son, Robert, about a year or two ago about your family. He is into genealogy. I still receive e-mails from him, ocassionally. I talked to your cousin, Liz Vance Lucas, and she said you were a teacher. So am I. I teach 4th grade at Ferrellsburg Elementary School. She said you were nearing retirement. I wish I were close. I need about six more years. I was late starting to teach. I stopped going to college for about 2 years when I got married . I went back part-time and finally got my degree and started teaching when my son was about 3yrs. old. Sorry to be so chatty. It is 1:30 a.m. and I can't sleep. Hope I have helped. Cheryl
