Would like to know if anyone has posted listings of Spry Cemetery at West Hamlin, down Dry Branch Road? Have been told that my ggrandfather and ggrandmother are buried there. They are: William Spry b. 9/1864 d. ?? Druzilla (Lucas) Spry b.4.1867 d. ?? I know that the Harts High School has been posting various cemeteries in Lincoln Co. and Harts Creek area. Do they know of this cemetery? Any info is greatly appreciated. Gail

Vermal Eplin 1928-2004 Vermal Cline Eplin, 76, of 123 Carriage Lane Estates, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Solon, Baker & Telford Funeral Home. The Rev. Danny Henry will officiate. Songs will include �In The Garden� and �Amazing Grace.� Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Full military rites will include honor guard, firing squad, taps and flag folding by Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1492 and Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post #217. Pallbearers will be nephew, Jim Eplin; and Matt Carby, Kenny Depoister, Dale Long, Don Long Jr. and Clifford Vance. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Alyssa Dominic; Aaron, Jessica, Joshua, Shannon, Stefan, Tyler and David Eplin II; Noah Mackjust, Cort Runyon, Heather Wargo and Wyatt Zadkovich; and great-granddaughter, Ella Wargo. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Solon, Baker & Telford Funeral Home. Born Jan. 2, 1928 in Kitchen, W. Va., he was the son of Daniel Freeman and Mollie Bawn (Elkins) Eplin. He married Lois Dean Janney on March 11, 1950. She survives. Also surviving are sons, Daniel (Sue) Eplin, David (Nancy) Eplin and Delbert (Carey) Eplin, all of Streator; a daughter, Mary (Mrs. Doug) Mackjust of Streator; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and brothers, Freeman Clyde Eplin of Peoria and Roger (Julie) Eplin of Acworth, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linney Coffey and Mary Rose Flowers; a brother, Charles Eplin; a granddaughter and two grandsons. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Occupation of Japan in the United States Army Air Corps Military Police. He served from 1945-49. In the military, he fought in the Golden Gloves and in 1946 in Japan, he claimed the championship. He retired from Owens-Illinois Glass in 1979 to run his own construction company. He retired in 1989. He ministered at the Church of Christ in Princeton for several years. He worked part-time at Eplin Home Improvement from 2001-04. He was a member of VFW Post 1492 and received the highest achievement award in the Dale Carnegie Course. He was born Oct. 15, 1916, at Middle Creek, a son of the late Scott and Martha Nida Richardson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Sucy. He was a retired automobile salesman and a member of Griffithsville Church of Christ and Griffithsville Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Eloise Richardson; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Ralph Adkins of Riverview, Fla.; a grandson and his wife, Jeff and Amy Adkins; a granddaughter, and her husband, Paula and Scott Simmons; a great-grandson, Adon Simmons; a brother and his wife, Arthur and Loretta Richardson of Hurricane; two sisters, Kathleen Barnes of Huntington, Maxine Yeager of Huntersville, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, with David Templeton and Tom Racer officiating. Burial will be in Powell Cemetery, Hamlin. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
