The only conclusion I can come to is that that there is confusion with the Eliza Catherine born 1893 after Angeline married William Leander Adams, her second husband after Monteville was killed.

What my husband heard is that her first husband, Montaville Lucas's throat was slit by the Brumfield brothers while he and Angeline were on the steps to the store. Angeline saw it all. Angeline and William's first child was Eliza Catherine who was my husband's mother. Eliza married Andrew Jackson McComas.
