Do you know any details about how and when he died? I have this on him: Born: July 4, 1877 Married: Mary "Margie" Brogan who was born April 4, 1880 and died May 18, 1954. I have two children born to them: Stella, born September 19, 1899 Dessie/Diffie (male) born about 1904. Margie then married Strauder/Strawder Smith about 1907. They had Earl, Esta, Dewey, Wilkie and Arvil. This Strauder was the illegitmate son of Millie Smith, who was Jordan Smith Jr's sister, (Jordan llls aunt). He was born in 1880. His father may have been Joe or Joel Midkiff. (as seen at gencircles.com) Thanks again, Lora

I would love to have the picture! My mother remembers Strauder and his family and does not recall that they ever went by Pauley, either. I do believe that Strauder was probably the son of George Pauley, but why the family would use the Holstein name for everything else and then give Pauley on death records is a mystery to me. I think it would be a pretty big coincidence for two little boys to be born in McCorkle on the same day and both be named Strauder and nothing is ever heard of this Strauder Pauley until he dies and is buried at Pine Grove, no headstone found, while there is no death record for Strauder Holstein who is buried beside his wife at Pine Grove and whose son gave her name as Nancy Holstein Pauley when she died. I need to go back and check the year of death for Strauder Holstein on the headstone. The death record for Strauder Pauley is, I think, 1947. Another researcher shared a picture of George and Serepty (Nancy's half sister) with me, and my Mom and her brothers were so thrilled. They were very close to their grandparents but had no pictures of them as everything was lost in a fire in the 1950s. Would you be interested in this picture, if I can still find the file? I wonder if the two women look alike? Many thanks, Lora

I have not heard that Strauder and his children went by the Pauley name, but that is not to say it did not happen. I do know that Susan later marries an Allen and has several children by him. Rumor has it that Strawder was illegitimate, perhaps a Pauley was the father. I have a picture of Strawder and Nancy if you are interested. It is taken where they lived, across from Pine Grove Church. Debbie

Maude K. Elkins born Jan. 14, 1915 and died Oct. 12, 1961. She is buried in the Edwards cemetery, Myra, WV. Her headstone says "MOTHER" on it. I've been trying to figure out Maude's maiden name, parents, siblings, spouse, children, ANYTHING on her with absolutely no luck. I live in NV so my resources are limited. My theory is she is related either by birth or marriage to someone in the Edwards cemetery. My reasons for that is in June 2005 I was in WV and visited the cemetery. I've been able to connect every person in that cemetery with the exception of Maude back to Elizabeth Edwards. Maude is the only one I still need to figure out. If anyone can help me unlock the mystery of Maude's identity, I would appreciate it so much. Thanks for any help Lora
