He was the son of David Lawson and Lovy Plumley Roach. David and Lovy marr Dec 1862. I have a copy of the marr record. William H Bird would be a child of Silas Bird and his first wife. Silas and Lovy had no children. They must have been marr bet 1880 and 1900. 1880 is the last known place David Lawson appears and by 1900 Silas and Lovy were on the 1900 census in Putnam Co. They are also found on the 1910 Lincoln Co census. Pollie (Mary) the child on the 1880 census of Lincoln Co is the child of Lovy and her first husband William Roach. The others were David and Lovy's. If you happen to run across any info on David Lawson or Lovy Plumley Roach Lawson Bird such as a death record or burial place, I'd really appreciate hearing from you. If I can be of any help to you with this family, just let me know. Janet

However my search began with a headstone located in the Porter cemetery, Myra, WV. It's a handmade headstone which has the letters W E T(or a backwards looking J or maybe an L - if it is a J or L, the top of the letter has a line across it like a T does) and the letter H. Birth date is given as Feb. 27 18?? or 19?? and the death date as Sep. 28, 1920. In searching the online death records I found one possible match, a Willard H. Bird who died on Sept. 28, 1920 at the age of 4 and a half years. He was the son of William B. Bird and Ethel Gertrude Hinkle Bird. If it is indeed Willards headstone, it may read WEL (WILL?) and middle initial H. This family was in the right place for a child to be buried in this cemetery. Anyhow, looking up the family I find William listed in the 1920 census with a daughter, Pansie H. listed next then William's wife, Ethel and children Homer J., Willard H., Harry P., Lewis R. and a step-brother Jack! Lawson who is 50 years old. Going further back I found Silas and Lovey Bird and Jack Lawson living with them and listed as a step-son. So I think Lovey may have married a Lawson first. That's all the research I did on this family as my main goal is to identify the person belonging to the headstone. If you can verify that, please let me know.

Hello List, I hope everyone has their shopping about done and is ready for Christmas. I am doing some research about a place in Hamlin. It was called the Lincoln Theatre. It was the old movie house that was in Hamlin. I remember going there as a child. I will not tell you how old I am but....I was small enough that I remember sitting on my parents laps and sitting through Gone With the Wind and thinking it would never ever end. does anyone have memories of this old movie theatre? Also does anyone maybe have a picture of it or something like an old ticket stub or something that they could share with me? Thanks so much Hope to hear from someone with information about this place. Pat in Florida

Join the Atkins Surname Project Website: www.familytreedna.com/public/adkins Description: ADKINS, ATKINS, or any reasonable spelling variation are welcome to join the project. Only males have Y-chromosomes, so only male ADKINS/ATKINS can participate. If you are female, you can have a male ADKINS/ATKINS relative submit a sample for your line. To participate meaningfully, testees will need to share their direct male line ancestry back to the earliest known ADKINS/ATKINS, either in the form of a pedigree chart or, preferable, family group sheets (excluding living persons). Surnames in Project: Adkins, Atkins Requirements: Since a Surname Project in essence traces members of a family that share a common surname, and females (a) don't carry their father's Y-DNA, and (b) acquire a new surname by the way of marriage, in order to be relevant to the Surname Project, the tested individual must be a male that wants to check his paternal line (father's father's father's...). The test to be ordered is either the Y-DNA12, Y-DNA25 or Y-DNA37, and females should look for a brother or cousin with that surname to be tested. Females can also order a test for themselves, which will be the mtDNA or mtDNAPlus, but the results of this test cannot be tied to the Surname Project. Joel Hager's site says Scott's name was Winfield Scott. It was NOT, It is just Scott Gartin. Sephrona's mother was Margaret de La Force. Whose ancestor Rene de La Force came from Guienne, France. Rose Neace told me that they were French Cajun. I have the de La Force Book. I will try to answer any questions you may have. John C Neace was John Charles Neace who died 24 Dec 1899 of TB he contracted during the Civil War. Scott WAS a moonshiner. His brother John was a reveneuer. Scott was arrested (in a raid) along with his son in law's brother, William Harrison Neace for moonshining and received a large fine. Have the story.

They lived in Russell Co Virginia at Hamblins Fort at Castlewood Virginia. 2nd generation first settlers in Breathitt, Pike Counties KY Quicksand KY Genealogy Society wrote a book on the Neaces in that area. They are brothers of Henry III although he was not mentioned in it. Sephrona and Scott are buried in the Lewis Cass Gartin Cemetery on East Fork at the old home place. Been there. I have researched these families for a long time. Ask any question you want. A de La Force book has been written and he says Margaret is definitely NOT an Indian. He has her line as does John Counts of Glade Hollow and Pioneer Recollections of SW Va. There is a twist to the Indian story as my sister told it to me the other day but I want to investigate it further before I relay it. It may settle this mystery.

I have noticed that many of my families migrated to the Lincoln County area during the mid to late 1860s. I know that Lincoln did not become a county until about 1867. But people seemed to have migrated to the area in the mid 1860s. Some of my families came from Roane County, others from Gallia County Ohio and lots of them from Kanawha County into Lincoln County. What was the attraction to get them to move into Lincoln County? Pat
I have updated my website again. I have put the information into a new format. Now, you can choose between family group sheet view and book format. I have privatized some of the facts (i.e. social security numbers). Also, I have started researching through the West Virginia Vital Research Records website to find death certificates. I have found a lot, and updated some of my data with the information. I will be updating my database periodically with the information I get from the death certificates. If you are interested in what I have, go to this website: http://home.hiwaay.net/~jjadkins/genealogy/ I have information on over 11,000 individuals. The family names include Adkins, Burns, Chandler, Hager, Sias, Yeager, Walls, Pennington (group 26), and many more. The families are mainly in the areas of Cabell, Wayne, and Lincoln Counties of West Virginia from 1692 to present. James -- James J. Adkins II jjadkins@gmail.com http://fly.hiwaay.net/~jjadkins

I am looking for information about Joseph Midkiff born about 1828 and he married Mary Elizabeth Ann Robinson in Kanawha in 1860. He died and I believe that Mary married Harrison Griffith and was living in Lincoln COunty in 1880. Mary is alone with three children on the 1870 Census of Kanawha County. Mary A is 9 and Martha A is also 9 I believe they were twins. There is a son John H who is 7. Does anyone have information as to who these children married? Did Mary and Harrison have more children together? I am especially looking for information about the two daughters. Thanks Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Pat
