(-: I have the Curry book, too. Isn't it a great resource? I'm still looking for info on Strawder Holstein. You see, the mystery is this: I have found no death record for Strawder (Strader, etc) Holstein, but I did find one for Strawder Pauley of McCorkle, buried at Pine Grove, with the same birthdate as Strawder Holstein, also Strawder Holstein's wife Nancy is recorded as Nancy Holstein Pauley on her death record, their son gave the information. I have seen on-line that some folks have said that Strawder was the the son of George Pauley. What I'm wondering is did he go by Holstein almost all of his life and then was the name Pauley used when they (he and Nancy)died? Why would they do that? I found her death record first and thought maybe she remarried, but she is buried with Strawder. Then I couldn't find a death record for him so I searched under Pauley, and there he was. Nancy was the half sister of my great grandmother, Serepty Smith McCormick, also buried at Pine Grove. As for Strawder Smith, you are right, his mother was Millie Smith and I have heard his father was Joel Midkiff, but I don' t think they were ever married. Millie was Nancy and Serepty's aunt, their father Jordan's younger sister. Millie was also the mother of Laurette, Isom Ezra, Monroe, and George. I have only seen George on the 1880 census and have no idea what became of him, but I have some info on the rest of her children. The only husband I have found for Millie so far is John A. Pauley and she married him later in life after her children were born. She was his 3rd known wife (he married 4 times that I know of. His last bride, Luvenia Tackett was about 50 years his junior!) My mother's brother married one of Monroe Smith's granddaughters. My grandpa always teased them about being related, but I don't think they ever knew exactly how or that it was true! Lora
