    1. INTERNATIONAL CEMETERY WEEK
    2. INTERNATIONAL CEMETERY WEEK Hello everyone. This project is not something that can be done over night but I believe, with your help, can be done. Have you ever wanted to make a difference? Here is your chance. Could everyone, without making this look like chain mail, send this information out to the other lists so we can see exactly how much interest there is out there. Obviously just 2 people will not make much of a difference in this case. I guess the best way to do things is to make a plan. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 1. Identify the people interested in helping be it Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Aunt Shirley, whomever. When we get a list of names, and establish parameters of the research (i.e. Areas that need work) then we can assign certain people to be over those areas. 2. Once we have established the base players we can start the list of what cemeteries need listing. For that we will have to ask the lists members for their impute. Then any cemetery that we gain knowledge of we will need to get directions for. The local Historical Society will be able to tell us if they already have that cemetery researched. Also some cemeteries have grave listings that are in personal hands. We need to locate those if possible. 3. When we get an idea of what we are doing we can set a date. I would like memorial week but I would like it to stretch for 2 weekends. 4. After the cemetery has been recorded, possibly we could put a flag in place to show that the work has already been done in case there is some confusion. 5. Then comes the question of what to do with the information we acquire. My suggestion is to get volunteers to data entry the information into individual files, then give the information to the local county web sites and to Rootsweb.com so everyone can have access. Well, that's it in a nut shell. I know that I have always wanted to make a difference. Maybe this is the way. Let me know what you think. If this message has been passed to you on your site and you are interested in helping please contact me directly. Lets make the Memorial Holiday the National Cemetery Week. 1. Brooks, again
    2. John Chapman
    3. Hello everyone. I am writing again to try and knock down a brick wall I've had for sometime. I would like to know if anyone is researching or has any knowledge of this family: Jim (probably James) Brooks, married to Dottie Collinsworth, about 1880. In 1888 the were living in Boone County, Peytona District. They had a daughter named Amanda, born in 1888. She married Averil Cummings, son of Robert Cummings and Cynthia Lovejoy, about 1910 and moved to Lincoln County. There they had three children: Eva (called Evvie), Myrtle, and Truman. Evvie is my grandmother. Anyway, Amanda died in 1922 in Roane State Hospital, and is buried in Lovejoy Cemetery, Lincoln Co. Her family is a total mystery to me. The family has no idea what happened to her, why she died, or even the date of her death. She apparently, according to my grandmother, who was ten years old at the time, had a breakdown after loosing her fourth child. For some reason, she was sent to Spencer (Why not the State Hospital in Huntington? Wouldn't that one be closer?). My grandmother remembered riding a train to Roane County to see her, only to be told that she had died a while ago. My great-grandfather had her body moved to the family cemetery, and he was buried beside her when he died in 1956. I know that I should look in Boone County, and trust me, I am, but I think that there is information to be had in Lincoln County, too. How close is Peytona District in Boone Co. to Lincoln County? Any help anyone can give me would be appreciated. Love and Blessings Kristal Smith Chapman
