Pam, I'm looking for the parents of Frances 'Fannie' McNeely. Fannie married Allen Adkins who was the s/o Elias and Susannah (Fry) Adkins. Allen and Fannie were my ggg-grandparents. I believe that they were murdered some time just before the 1860 Census because they are not in the census and their children are living with various family members. The story goes that they were on their way to town and never arrived and were never seen again. Any connection or know anything about the McNeelys?? Also, I have Adkins, Perdue, Stowers (w/Blankenships), Stephens, Fraley, Clark. What are some of your names?? ALFORD FAMILY REUNION Descendants of 'Irish' John Alford are having a reunion in West Virginia. The reunion will be held at the Garretts Bend Community Center in Garretts Bend, Lincoln County, West Virginia, on Saturday, August 11, 2001. The reunion will kick off between 11:00 a.m. and noon. The family was originally from Ireland and settled in the Rockingham and Augusta County areas of Virginia in the late 1700's. Some descendants are still located in Virginia, while various branches settled in Monroe and Cabell/Lincoln County areas of West Virginia. Most of the Alfords who reside in the Lincoln, Putnam, Kanawha, Boone and Cabell Counties are descended from 'Irish' John Alford and his son George Alford. George Alford and his son Robert 'Robin' Alford were pioneer settlers in the early 1800's in the area of Cabell County that eventually became Lincoln County. Most of the current West Virginia Alfords descend from Robin Alford's children Adam, Joseph, George Washington, Lafayette, Cynthia, Belva and James Bird Alford. Other descendants are located in Texas, Missouri, the Carolinas, Oklahoma, California and Oregon. A day of fun and fellowship is planned. Catering has been arranged with Mona's Family Kitchen and Catering. For details, interested persons can contact: Patsy Adkins Norris Alford P.O. Box 15156 or Gahanna, Ohio Charleston, WV 25365 [email protected] [email protected] 614-471-3047 phone 304-949-4503 (after 5 p.m. )

Does anyone on the list know where the West Hamlin Cemetery is located? I have found reference to this cemetery in newspapers ca. 1917-1925, but have no knowledge of any cemetery called West Hamlin Cemetery being there. I grew up in the West Hamlin area and have never heard of it, so maybe it is not in use now, and is maybe overgrown and etc. Patty (Butcher) Tyler
