Hey all - I'm researching a family with a very common name (Martin) and I'm getting nowhere fast. Let me lay out my situation, and see if anyone can give me some suggestions. I know that about 1900 at least two of the Martin children had been recently born to unknown parents. Robert Raymond and Eula (Beulah? later Eula Jones). They had two other sons, I think one younger and one older, again, birthdates unknown. The family lived in Charleston, and family oral history suggests they had for quite some time and had money. I've had a person check the 1900 and 1920 census for me and they show nothing that looks likely to be this family. I don't know exact date of death on any family member. I know Robert Raymond Martin served in the navy in WW2 and was in Norfolk after being overseas, but I don't have enough to get military records. I know Eula had a duaghter who became Thelma Williams (deceased), that Robert went by 'Ray' Martin and was a dentist in Charleston dead by early 1950's - both his brothers were also dead by the fifties - one was also a dentist, the other committed suicide in dental school (again, oral history.) A google search found a possible note of Ray competing in a Charleston chess tournament - which would be very likely. So I've got nothing, basicially. Anyone got a good idea for me? Liz Montgomery
