Arthur or his brother, Eugene/Gene, served time in the Moundsville, WV penitentiary from about 1930 to 1941 (years are approximate)for the death of a local Marmet man (Sam Bruce). Arthur married Ina and a daughter, Betty Joe, was born. When Betty was about six, her mother died. Her father had her for a short while then she lived with her grandmother, Ella Spurlock, until Ellas' death.
