Hi! I just received some information about my Griffith family. It states that John Griffith, son of Benjamin and Prudence (Lanthorn) Griffith, was in the Civil War. It goes on to say that he died in Charleston, West Virginia on May 15, 1863. I believe that he was born and raised in Lawrence County, Ohio. My information does not state what unit he was attached to. Can anyone tell me if there was any kind of major battle in Charleston, West Virginia in early May 1863 (or possibly 1865 as a different source states)? Thanks for your help! - Jean Griesan
